Spring Refresh

Spring Refresh

I’ve come up with the perfect spring cleaning strategy and I’m calling it Spring Refresh.

The Sironen household Spring Refresh started this weekend. For the refresh I (or sometimes we, myself & my husband) will focus time and energy on ONE room in the house. That ONE room will be deep cleaned, organized, items we no longer need or use will be thrown out, and sometimes the decor will be updated. You might be thinking… why choose just ONE room each week? Well, I have found that when it comes to cleaning or even keeping the house picked up and organized, it becomes an overwhelming task to “fit it all in.” I end up moving about the house and starting a million little tasks but am left feeling like I’ve completed nothing at all, making an even bigger mess in the process.

I find it extremely satisfying to declutter and leave a space looking spotless. Just last week I filled two large garbage bags with clothes I no longer want or wear. You better believe I drove away from Goodwill with a smile on my face. To me, life is better when unnecessary stuff doesn’t get in the way. This refresh is going to be good for the Sironen Household!

The girls’ bathroom was the first room to get its refresh. I spent some time Friday night wiping down baseboards and cabinets before tossing items we don’t need. It was quick because it’s a small space, but that won’t always be the case. They really don’t need much at the age they’re at right now. Their cabinet and drawers hold hair ties, toilet paper and a garbage can. The simplicity is satisfying.

On Saturday morning I took the girls shopping. I thought it was important that they have a say in what their space looks like. Being that they have strong opinions these days and all (ha). We went to Home Goods and Hobby Lobby. Two of my favorites! We were able to find just what we needed, if not more.

Below are the picture before I got rid of our totally outdated fake plant in the corner and nothing on the walls near the mirror. We’ve been missing a hook for towels for quite some time and I’ve never really found something I thought worthy of hanging above them.

The girls were super excited to make the decisions. Saying no to the llama picture was out of the question and Stella thought the sign that says “brush” would be the perfect reminder to brush her teeth. Hey, whatever helps. I was pumped to find an outlet cover and need to go back to get one for the light switches. Someday, down the road, I’d like to replace the mirror and lighting overhead, but this will do for now.

Llama, llama!

A little bit of Easter decor made it to the bathroom.

I kept the original shower curtain because I still love it so much.

Spring Refresh weekend one is done!
Next up… the downstairs half bath. See you next weekend.
