My Shein Tips
Have you been wanting to order from Shein but you’re too scared to try it?
I was so nervous my first time ordering. A dress for $8, how could the quality possibly be any good? My body size and shape is definitely not like the model in the picture, so why would any of this fit me? What if it has a hole or the buttons pop off easily? These thoughts and more would pop into my head every time I clicked on the Facebook ad or saw a post where someone was sharing their outfit from Shein. I decided to give it a try anyway. What could be so bad? If nothing fit or the quality was just awful, then worst case scenario, I would just return it all. No biggie!
My first purchase was probably about ten items; a bathing suit, a few dresses, and some tops. Out of the ten items, eight of them worked for me. One of the dresses was too tight (even though I’d ordered my regular size) and a top was too tight in the arms. I still considered this a win because out of the two items that didn’t work out for me it was still only like fifteen bucks out of my total order of $80. I didn’t even end up returning those two items. I gave them to someone else instead. Kind of a win, win. No hassle returning, and I didn’t feel like I’d lost any money because I had eight other new items that would normally cost me much more at a boutique clothing store or Amazon. I have recently ordered many more items from Shein and over time I feel I’ve learned some tips that I think will help anyone purchase something from them with almost total success.

Tips for shopping at Shein:
Always read the reviews for each item and look closely at the customer reviews and pictures posted. It will help you determine if it will fit true to size or not. If previous customers say it runs big then size down, or if they say it’s tight in certain areas you may want to size up. I like to look for pictures of someone I think has the same body type as me. I will usually go with the sizing they recommend. Also, sometimes I’ll look at the “real life” picture of a dress and realize that the pattern or color looks completely different, which changes my mind about liking it.
If it’s something form fitting like a tighter dress or pants/skirt I always size up and that works. I have wider hips and they don’t always work in those type of dresses. If it’s an already flowy dress then I get my regular size or sometimes size down. If you pick a t-shirt type top definitely size up! I am usually a small/medium in tops and I will usually order a large from here and sometimes it’s still a little more form fitting than I’d like.
Kids clothing is SO cheap and the quality has always been great! ALL of the girl’s swimsuits (many pictured in this post) this summer were from Shein and they were able to last the wear and tear of our beach and lake trip. The only problem is that the toddler clothing is sized with two sizes in one. For example, 3-4y and 5-6y. So I always go up but sometimes it’s a little big. Stella is a size 6 so I sometimes go ahead and order her the 7-8y size because I know she will eventually wear it. They’ll grow into it, right?

Once you order it literally takes about 3 weeks to be delivered (or at least it does for me). Because of this, I like to order in bulk… which is each to do because it’s so cheap! :] You’ll want to give yourself at least a month if you’re ordering for a special occasion.
